Let’s focus on your power. You can create readers and writers. You can stock or launch your family library. During its 2012 Librotraficante Caravan to smuggle back into Tucson the books from the Mexican American Studies Curriculum outlawed by Arizona legislators, we opened Underground Libraries across the Southwest. Our goal was to ensure that our community had access to its books and history beyond the whim of any administration. It turns out we were prophetic. Underground Libraries are needed again. Yes, you can get books for your family library through Nuestra Palabra’s website, but you can also pitch in to our GoFundMe Campaigns to purchase classroom sets that we directly give to educators. Your donation also fuels workshops we conduct at community centers, and we stock underground libraries. Access to books is constricted, but there is still a need and demand for books by Latinos for Latinos. Join us to make it rain libros in book deserts.
